Orlando Pirates to loan little known 22-year-old attacker!
Orlando Pirates are believed to be ready to go into the market for a few forwards in the off-season.
It is thought that Pirates will also offload some forwards to make room for some of their top attacking targets.
The club was already active in the January transfer window but didn’t sign any attackers. The likes of Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha were roped in by Pirates, who then saw Bienvenu Eva Nga released. Then perhaps, the biggest outgoing was that of club stalwart Thembinkosi Lorch. The playmaker shocked the local football fraternity by securing a deadline-day move to rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.
It is not expected that Pirates will be as idle when it comes to attacking signing in the off-season, however. The club have already been linked to a plethora of targets in that department. Some of those targets have been touted to be closer to joining than others.
Pirates to loan Mchunu again?
But for Pirates, it will also be about sending some younger attackers on loan to continue with their development. One player that is set to be part of that loan list is winger Azola Matrose. Another is Cebo Mchunu who joined the club at the beginning of the season from Bizana Pondo Chiefs.
Mchunu was quickly sent out on loan to Pretoria Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. It hasn’t quite worked out the way Pirates nor the 22-year-old winger had hoped. The Buccaneers, however, are not giving up on the player and a ready to send him out onto another loan.
“As much as he is a good player, the club feels he hasn’t reached that standard which will make him a regular at the club next season and that’s why he is set for another loan move. He won’t be the first player to do that. Even Thembinkosi Lorch was loaned out twice before coming back to the team and he became a regular. It helps the players to grow and gain experience. It’s good for both the player and the club and that’s why they are loaning him out again next season.
Will eventually get Buccaneers chance?
They will wait for the season to finish and get the report from Pretoria Callies first on how he has performed this season before making the decision on where he he could be loaned to. But that’s the decision the club has taken to at least loan him again for one more season then give him the chance at the club to prove himself,” said the source to Soccer-Laduma.
Mchunu signed a three-year deal at Pirates and could view this next loan spell as a make or break scenario.
