Xiaomi HyperOS to launch in India on Feb 29: Here is a list of smartphones that will get the OS update first
Xiaomi is preparing to unveil its latest user interface, HyperOS, in India. The new UI was initially launched last year in China with the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro. Following the launch, Xiaomi announced the gradual rollout of HyperOS across smartphones and tablets. As part of the rollout, the company is finally unveiling HyperOS in India on February 29, 2024.
Xiaomi  launched its top model of the 14 series – the Xiaomi 14 Ultra handset-recently, at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 in Barcelona. During the launch, the company revealed the list of devices slated to receive the new UI update. Xiaomi announced that the Xiaomi 13, Xiaomi 13T, Xiaomi 12, and Xiaomi 12T series will all receive the stable HyperOS update in the first half of 2024 (by June). Additionally, select Redmi models, including the Redmi Note 13 5G and Redmi Note 12 5G series, will also receive this update.

HyperOS is more human centricÂ
Xiaomi has introduced its latest operating system – HyperOS, with a focus on human-centered design. It is developed to serve as a nexus for the company’s diverse product range, including  smartphones, cars, and smart home devices. Featuring a redesigned interface, HyperOS brings substantial improvements in organisation, intelligent multi-device connectivity, proactive assistance, and comprehensive security.
The HyperOS is built on Android 14 and leverages the open-source Xiaomi Vela platform and focuses on optimising performance and reliability for both smartphones and smart home devices.Â
HyperOS boasts several user-centric features:
Revamped UI: HyperOS adopts some familiar design elements from iOS, including a similar lock screen and notification interface akin to the Dynamic Island. Additionally, users can personalise Quick Settings and widgets to suit their preferences.
Performance Boost: the UI offers faster boot times, improved app performance through enhanced memory management, and smoother animations.
Seamless Connectivity: HyperOS also facilitates effortless device integration, enabling easy app transfers, screen mirroring, and shared clipboard content.
AI Integration: HyperOS leverages cutting-edge AI capabilities, potentially offering features like text and image generation, image search, and text extraction from images.
Xiaomi 14 to launch in India soon
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 14 is set to launch in India on March 7. The base variant will share similar specifications with its Chinese counterpart. Boasting a 120 Hz refresh rate on a 6.36-inch QHD+ touchscreen display, it is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor paired with 8GB of RAM. With a 4610mAh battery supporting wireless charging and proprietary fast charging, the Xiaomi 14 promises seamless performance.
In terms of photography, the Xiaomi 14 features a triple camera setup on the rear, featuring three 50-megapixel lenses, and a 32-megapixel front camera for selfies. Running Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android, it offers 256GB of inbuilt storage, dual Nano-SIM support, and IP68-rated dust and water protection.Â
