New Delhi: EPFO, a government-established statutory body, is responsible for managing the EPF through the Employees’ Provident Fund and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, of 1952. The EPFO Portal serves as the official government platform, providing comprehensive information on the Employees Provident Fund.

EPFO has introduced the Universal Account Number (UAN) for members, a unique identifier assigned to each EPFO member contributing to the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) scheme. The UAN remains consistent even if employees change employers.

How To Login To EPFO Members Portal:

Step 1: Navigate to the EPFO Unified Login portal.

Step 2: In the ‘Services’ section, select ‘For Employees’.

Step 3: Upon accessing the new dashboard, locate ‘Member UAN/Online Services’ under the ‘Services’ section. Alternatively, you can directly visit the EPFO Member Portal/e-SEWA Portal.

Step 4: Log in using your UAN, provided you have an activated Universal Account Number. If your UAN isn’t activated yet, find the option to activate it below the login section. Follow the instructions outlined in the ‘How to Register on EPFO Portal?’ section.

Step 5: Once your UAN is activated, you can log in to the EPFO member portal anytime to check your Provident Fund balance and the status of any claims, such as PF settlement or Partial PF Withdrawal.

Step 6: After the UAN is generated, the EPFO member must activate it by logging into the EPFO member portal. The activation process can be completed by the EPFO member.

How To Activate UAN Online:

EPFO offers various services through the government’s centralised mobile app, Umang, available for download on Google Play Store/App Store. Members can use this app to check their PF balance and download their passbook.

Step 1: Visit the EPFO Member portal at https://www.epfindia.gov.in.

Step 2: Click on “Activate UAN” located on the right side of the screen under the “Important Links” section.

Step 3: Provide your UAN number, name, date of birth, email ID, and mobile number.

Step 4: Once the details are entered, click on the “Get Authorization Pin” button.

Step 5: You’ll receive an OTP on your mobile number.

Step 6: Enter the OTP to activate the UAN. This process also registers your mobile number with the EPF account.

Step 7: Upon UAN activation, you’ll receive a password on your registered mobile number to access your account.
