on naxalism, deepfakes and reservation: amit shah’s key interview takeaways | exclusive
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in an exclusive interview with Times Now, discussed several critical topics ranging from the anti-Naxal campaign to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, addressing corruption issues, and the growing misuse of AI.
Here are the key highlights:Anti-Naxal Campaign:Shah noted the significant progress in combating Naxalism across various states, highlighting Chhattisgarh’s success under the BJP government. He emphasized the importance of creating a secure environment for development initiatives to reach affected regions.
“Dekhiye is desh me Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha – itne rajyo me se Naxalvad khatam ho gayi hai.. Chhattisgarh ke 5 jile bache the.. because congress government was there and it didn’t support us.. but now bjp government is there.. and we can see the success… 250 have surrendered.. jahan jahan suraksha ka ghera badhta ja raha hai, wahan ration, shiksha, bijli, swasthya.. sab pahunch raha hai,” he said.
On Rahul Gandhi’s accusation that BJP called Adivasis ‘Vanvasis’
Shah dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s accusation about BJP labeling Adivasis as ‘Vanvasis,’ asserting that the BJP government has prioritized the welfare of tribal communities with initiatives like housing, water, and electricity provisions.
“Rahul Gandhi ko koi seriously leta nahi hai.. Congress was in power for so long.. Congress has never given adivasis their due. Modi ji provided ghar, pani, bijli to adivasis. BJP made a tribal candiate – Droupadi Murmu – the president.”
On allegations of probe agencies misuse
Addressing concerns about probe agency misuse, Shah emphasized the role of the judiciary, urging individuals to seek legal recourse if agencies overstep their boundaries. He underscored the government’s commitment to combating corruption effectively.
“Dekhiye is desh me agencies ke alawa courts bhi hain. If agencies are overstepping their boundaries, nobody is stopping you from approaching the court. Pehle aap beinteha corruption karo, aur phir jab pakde jao, tab agency ka bahana banao..aise nahi chalega. We have made it clear- ‘Jo corruption karega, usko dand milega’.”
On BJP’s Raebareli candidateRegarding BJP’s candidate selection process in Raebareli, Shah clarified the party’s strategy, mocking the Congress for delays in announcing candidates for Amethi and Raebareli constituencies.
“BJP’s Raebareli unit has decided that it would announce the candidate only after the Congress. We have formed the panel. We are not confused. We have three options. As soon as the Congress announces its candidate from Raebareli we will name ours,” the Union Home Minister stated, while also mocking the Congress’ delay in naming its candidate from Amethi and Raebareli. “Harne ke liye taiyar ho, woh aisa pratyashi dhoondh rahe hain,” he said.
On the Fake Video uproarShah denounced the circulation of misleading videos aimed at tarnishing his image, expressing disbelief that anyone would resort to such tactics.
“Is prakar ka kutil prayas.. is prakar ki baatein.. kisi ke muh me daal ke galat video banake… main nahi manta Bharatiya janata isse khush hongi..”
On President Droupadi Murmu’s Ayodhya VisitShah questioned the opposition’s absence at Droupadi Murmu’s Ayodhya visit, suggesting it was driven by fear of losing vote banks.
“Woh baat chhoriye.. inko (referring to opposition) bulaya gaya tha, ye kyun nahi aye? Vote bank ke dar se..?”
On ReservationsShah advocated for reservation based on economic criteria rather than religion, proposing the removal of Muslim reservations and their reallocation to SC/ST communities.
“Dharm ke aadhar par reservation nahi hona chahiye.. Muslim reservation hata ke, SC/ST ko diya jayenge.”
