"On m'a permis de sortir de ma cage": le roi Charles plaisante sur son traitement contre le cancer

Le roi britannique, qui est toujours soigné pour son cancer mais reprend progressivement ses activités publiques, a effectué un déplacement ce jeudi 9 mai dans une caserne militaire à Surrey au sud-ouest de Londres.

L’humour comme remède? Le roi Charles III, qui reprend ses activités publiques depuis la fin du mois d’avril après l’annonce de son cancer, a plaisanté ce jeudi 9 mai lors d’un déplacement dans une caserne militaire du Surrey, au sud-ouest de Londres.

“Je m’excuse de vous avoir pris par surprise, lorsque cette opportunité s’est présentée et qu’on m’a permis de sortir de ma cage, j’ai voulu venir voir”, a déclaré le souverain britannique, une scène relayée par Sky News.

Premier engagement solo depuis son cancer

Absent pendant près de trois mois à cause de son cancer dont la nature n’a jamais été communiquée, le roi Charles III a pu reprendre ses engagements, ses médecins jugeant que les progrès de son état de santé étaient “très encourageants”.

Le palais de Buckingham avait toutefois indiqué que les premiers déplacements du roi seraient “soigneusement calibrés” et effectués “en concertation étroite avec ses médecins”.

Il s’agit ce jeudi 9 mai de son premier déplacement sans la présence de la reine Camilla ou d’un autre membre de la famille royale. La veille, le couple royal a organisé la première garden-party de l’année à Buckingham alors que le prince Harry se trouvait au même moment à Londres pour les Invictus Games. Le père et le fils ne se sont toutefois pas croisés pour raisons d’agenda du roi, selon un porte-parole du prince Harry.
