Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will give Bruno Fernandes every chance to prove his fitness ahead of Sunday’s clash with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
United come into the fixture on the back of a 3-2 comeback win against Atalanta in the Champions League, but may have lost their talisman, Fernandes, to an injury.
However, Solskjaer has given a boost to United fans by admitting that the Portuguese star still has a chance of being available.
Championship predictions: Six home wins, three away, three draws
“We have two or three carrying knocks,” said the Norwegian. “I hope I can pick from a fully-fit squad. Bruno [Fernandes] might be a doubt but he will do everything he can to get ready.
“It’s still just Friday and the game’s on Sunday, we’ll give everyone time.
“We might have the whole squad fit, we might be two or three players down. Bruno might be one of them but he’s doing everything he can to be ready.”

Solskjaer also provided an update on another midfield option.
“Fred is a very good player, a regular for Brazil, which is a mark of quality. He has an exceptional attitude, such a big smile, and he’ll do everything he can to be ready. His development has been great to watch.
“When he got injured at the end of last season it was supposed to be six to eight weeks but he was back for the Europa League final.”
Solskjaer, just like his opposite number of Sunday, was asked to compare Cristiano Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah, two players who have lit up the Premier League this season.
“I’ll always back Cristiano in any competition, he’s unique and his goal scoring record has been fantastic but that being said Salah is at the moment on fire. You see some of the goals he’s scored lately, we know we have to be at our best to defend against him.
“Players like this don’t come along very often. We have to enjoy these players from afar, not Sunday, that’s too close,” the United manager admitted.
“We’ve got to do a good job, not just against him. I’m a big admirer of the front line they’ve had for many years now. Mane, Firmino, maybe Jota will play, they are players you have to focus on and you have to be nailed on for 95 mins to keep a clean sheet.”
“David is up there [with the best in the world], for sure. We’ll play against one, Alisson is one of the top ones to be fair but I’ve seen the mindset since David came back in early. He’s got his tail up again, it’s a joy to work with.”Internet Explorer Channel Network
