Ohio State entered this week coming off of a very important recruiting weekend. The Buckeyes played host to a small group of recruits, but each one of them was a priority target for the Buckeyes.

On campus to visit Ohio State was 2025 five-star offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. (Charlotte, NC / Providence Day School), 2025 five-star safety Trey McNutt (Cleveland, Ohio / Shaker Heights), 2025 four-star edge Zion Grady (Enterprise, AL /Enterprise) and 2025 four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry, the only one of the group to make a decision, as he committed to Auburn over a year ago in February 2023.

Autry (Opelika, AL / Opelika) was the only recruit to enter the weekend without an official scholarship offer from the Buckeyes, but after his visit this weekend that quickly changed.

Autry left his visit with an official scholarship offer from the Buckeyes and Ohio State will look to flip him from the Tigers, which will not be an easy task. If the Buckeyes are going to flip the lineman, they will need to get him back on campus again sooner rather than later for an official visit.

While Ohio State has a lot of work to do to earn Autry’s commitment, they have more than a chance to do so. Autry was able to build relationships with the other recruits he was on campus with this weekend, especially with Zion Grady who is also from Alabama.

Not to be lost in the news of Autry’s offer was the visits of the other three recruits. Trey McNutt has long been a priority safety target for the Buckeyes, being from Ohio and the son of a former Buckeye. Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has made it a priority to keep Ohio’s top prospects at home and this holds true in McNutt’s recruitment.

The visit for McNutt was not the first for him and will not be the last. He has not hinted at having a favorite school, but the Buckeyes are one of the strongest contenders in his recruitment at this time, if not the strongest.

David Sanders Jr.’s visit was the most surprising news of the weekend, but also the biggest. Sanders is arguably the No. 1 recruit in the entire 2025 recruiting class and has long been a priority target for OSU. Early in his recruitment, the Buckeyes seemed like a long shot, but as of late, look to be real contenders. The weekend visit to Ohio State was his second this spring and the Buckeyes have to love getting as much time with him as possible.

The final visitor on campus last weekend was four-star edge Zion Grady, who has become an increasing priority for the Buckeyes since the turn of the year. OSU offered him in February, and to get him on campus shortly after was the next step in earning his recruitment. The Buckeyes will also likely need to get him back on campus later this spring or summer if they wish to remain contenders.

Quick Hits:

Ohio State is putting a lot of effort into the 2025 recruiting class but the coaching staff is not forgetting about next year’s class or the year after. Recruiting after all, never stops. The Buckeyes offered a pair of targets in future classes on Monday, including a rising wide receiver.

The Buckeyes also made a different top schools list last weekend when 2025 four-star running back Jordon Davison (Santa Ana, CA / Mater Dei) announced his top four schools. Alongside Ohio State, Davison included Alabama, Oregon, and Michigan in his top schools list. Ohio State has long been recruiting Davison and is the current favorite to earn his commitment, holding both 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions.
