The South Korean government has spared no expense in the promotion of its tourism, as it continues to capitalize on the Hallyu wave to entice fans of K-dramas to visit the country.
Whether you’re heading to South Korea soon, or just planning to, here are some familiar K-drama locations to check out, as seen in JP Soriano’s report on “24 Oras” Tuesday.
1. Walkerhill Aston House
This breathtaking spot is a must-see for fans of “Queen of Tears.” The European-style private house was featured in the series as the setting of Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won) and Baek Hyun Woo’s (Kim So Hyun) wedding.
It was also where the real-life wedding of “Crash Landing On You” superstars Son Ye-jin and Hyun Bin was held.
2. Hyundai Seoul Mall
Want to go window (or actual) shopping at the Queen’s Department Store in “Queen of Tears?” Take a trip to the dazzling Hyundai Seoul Mall, which is the actual mall where the Queen’s Mall was filmed.
3. Yeoncheon Closed School Activity Drama Art Exhibition Hall
You don’t just have to stop at “Queen of Tears” either. To glimpse props used in other K-dramas, the Yeoncheon Closed School Activity Drama Art Exhibition Hall should be on your itinerary. The exhibit features props that featured in the “Moon Embracing the Sun” series, which also starred “Queen of Tears” actor Soo Hyun.
4. Hwaseong Fortress
For fans of period K-drama “Love in the Moonlight,” there’s the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon to visit. The destination served as one of the key locations of the series, which also aired on GTV.
5. Jewel in the Palace location
An oldie but a goodie, “Jewel in the Palace” has since become a classic for K-drama fans of all ages. Soriano took to the location where Jang Geum was sentenced to death, explaining that back in the day during the time of the old dynasties of South Korea, actual death sentences took place there.
“Jewel in the Palace” aired on GMA Network and GTV.
6. Tongmyeongjeon Hall
For something spooky, fans of period horror drama “Kingdom” can check out the Tongmyeongjeon Hall located inside the Changgyeonggun Palace, known as one of the few Joseon dynasty palaces that still stand today.
“Kingdom” star Ju Ji Hoon makes his appearance in the series at this very hall. Historically, as per South Korea’s Cultural Heritage Administration, Tongmyeongjeon Hall served as the king’s living quarters and also functioned as a banquet hall.
