NYPD cop takes pictures of Rockefeller Center tree for revelers with bad view

A kindhearted NYPD cop spread holiday cheer at Wednesday’s Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting, snapping photos for spectators who couldn’t get a clear shot, video shows.

The footage shows frenzied revelers huddled together, many with cellphones out to document the magical moment.

But their views were blocked by the two oversized police vehicles parked on the street.

At one point, just the tip of the 79-foot-tall Norway spruce adorned with 50,000 lights and topped with a 900-pound star made from 3 million Swarovski crystals is seen as those in the crowd jockey for position to get a better view.

The clip shows some people using selfie sticks to capture the 89th annual tree lighting, apparently getting the much-needed snapshot, while others weren’t seemingly satisfied.

That’s when a plainclothes officer jumped into action, performing a tiny Christmas miracle of sorts by grabbing tourists’ cellphones and taking photos from his vantage point, the video shows.

The cop can be seen volunteering to take one of the tourists’ phones to snap a picture.

The officer took photos for several people.

The officer, whose identity wasn’t immediately available, handed a cellphone back to one person before several others reach out, the video shows.

The NYPD shutterbug proceeded to take several more photos using the cellphones of those in the crowd, according to the footage.

The unidentified cop was happy to take a picture of the famous tree.

The police had vehicles blocked off the view for some tourists trying to snag pictures of the famous tree.

“He can’t do everyone’s,” another officer says at one point as the crowd’s requests began to pile up.

A message seeking comment from the NYPD was not immediately returned early Thursday.
