NBA Finalists the Denver Nuggets have agreed to a pick trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to a report.
The draft-pick rich Oklahoma City Thunder are trading 2024 first- and second-round picks and a 2023 second-round pick to the Denver Nuggets for a protected 2029 first-round pick, ESPN reported Friday.
Under terms of the trade, the Nuggets will receive the 37th pick in the June 22 draft and the lowest of Oklahoma City’s first-round picks in 2024, per the report.
Denver also has the 40th selection in the upcoming draft. The new NBA collective bargaining agreement has made developing young talent essential for luxury tax reasons.
The advantage of the trade for the Thunder is the ability to spread their draft picks further into the decade. They now have 15 first-round draft selections through 2029, per ESPN.

San Antonio Spurs have the No. 1 pick and are almost certain to select Victor Wembanyama
The Thunder also own the No. 12 pick in the 2023 draft.
The Nuggets already have a contending team with unstoppable Nikola Jokic leading the line.
Denver silenced the Miami Heat Wednesday night with a commanding 109-94 win in Game 3 of the finals to take a 2-1 series lead.
The San Antonio Spurs have the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft, meaning they are likely to land 7-foot-5 French phenom Victor Wembanyama.
San Antonio had the joint-best odds – 14 percent – of getting the No. 1 pick, and now they’ll have the chance of selecting a generational prospect once dubbed an ‘alien’ by LeBron James.
‘I’m gonna [do] everything to win as many games as I can,’ he said during a live interview with ESPN from Paris.
‘I’m trying to win a ring ASAP, so be ready.’
Spurs owner Peter Holt, who was in attendance in Chicago at the lottery, was elated after it was announced that his team had won the No. 1 pick, screaming ‘let’s go!’ immediately afterwards and later joking he ‘might faint’ when he was interviewed.
