Footage has emerged of a dramatic police chase involving teenagers in an allegedly stolen ambulance.

The footage obtained by 2GB Radio allegedly shows the teenagers inside the ambulance as police lights flash and sirens wail in the background.

Two 14-year-olds and a 15-year-old have been charged over two alleged vehicle thefts, including the ambulance.

The ambulance was allegedly stolen from a home in Brewarrina in northwest NSW early on Thursday, NSW police said.

Police had pursued the stolen ambulance on the Kamilaroi Highway towards Bourke after it allegedly failed to stop.

Investigators allege the ambulance crossed onto the wrong side of the road and was deliberately driven at a police vehicle, forcing it to reverse to avoid a collision.

The ambulance struck the front of the police vehicle, forcing it into a ditch, police allege. The officers were uninjured.

The pursuit was terminated amid safety concerns and the vehicle was found abandoned at the intersection of Becker and Tudor streets in Bourke after the occupants allegedly fled.

Police allege the offenders were also involved in another home break-in at Bourke earlier on Thursday.

In that incident, five people armed with knives allegedly forced entry to the home, waking the occupant.

The occupant, a 30-year-old man, was allegedly threatened before the group fled with cash and keys.

A Holden Commodore was allegedly stolen from outside and later found ditched.
