The funeral details for an elderly couple who died in a house fire in Cork city have been announced as tributes pour in for the grandparents.
John O’Donnell and Gabrielle O’Donnell (née Sexton) tragically lost their lives after a blaze broke out in their home on Lower Glanmire Road, Mayfield at around 11pm on April 4.
The couple, who were in their 80s and 70s respectively, had recently celebrated the birth of their granddaughter, who was born in Doha, Qatar, where their son and daughter-in-law live.
The loving pair will be sadly missed by their son Mark, as well as John’s sons John and Damien.
John and Gabrielle will also be remembered by their adoring siblings, including John’s sister Anne and Gabrielle’s brother Brendan. The couple will be missed by their daughter-in-law Grace, granddaughter Hannah, John’s grandchildren Brona, Eoin and Cormac, as well as all of their extended family, neighbours and many friends.
John and Gabrielle will repose at the Coburg Street Funeral Home of Jerh. O’Connor Ltd. from 5pm to 6pm on Tuesday.
Requiem mass will then take place on Wednesday, April 17, in St. Patrick’s Church, Lower Glanmire Road at 2pm with the funeral afterwards to The Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy, Cork.
