Inclement weather hits ‘Ahlan Modi’ event in UAE
Due to the unfavorable weather in the United Arab Emirates, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Tuesday speech at the “Ahlan Modi” community gathering in Abu Dhabi has been postponed, an official engaged in the arrangements announced on Monday.
The “Ahlan Modi” event, which means “Hello Modi” in Arabic, was canceled after reports of strong thunderstorms and lightning overnight caused traffic jams and flooding around the United Arab Emirates.
Community activist Sajeev Purushothaman told news agency PTI that while plans were proceeding smoothly for one of Prime Minister Modi’s largest-ever diaspora gatherings at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, attendance had dropped from 80,000 to 35,000 due to bad weather.
It was previously stated that 60,000 individuals had already registered to attend the event, which was solely open to people of Indian descent, using a website dedicated to that purpose.
Purushothaman predicts that between 35,000 and 40,000 people will attend the event, including those who are performing cultural programs.
He continued by saying that there will be over 1000 volunteers at the location and over 500 busses operating.
According to a source at the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, 45,000 people are expected to attend the prime minister’s public speech.
On September 22, 2019, Prime Minister Modi and former US President Donald Trump spoke at a sizable community gathering in Houston, Texas called “Howdy, Modi!”

Large portions of the UAE were battered by intense rain, hail, thunder, and lightning overnight, prompting the issuance of safety alerts and the reduction of speed limits throughout the country on Monday morning.
Abu Dhabi and the capital city were both filled with thunder and lightning. Videos of snowfall in the city of Al Ain were also shared by social media users.
Nevertheless, the snowfall was not formally confirmed.
On February 14, Prime Minister Modi will dedicate a stately BAPS temple in Abu Dhabi during a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) that starts on Tuesday.
The first conventional Hindu stone temple in the United Arab Emirates is the Bochasanwasi Shri Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) Hindu temple, which is situated in Abu Mureikhah next to Al Rahba off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi Sheikh Zayed Highway.
The temple is situated on about 27 acres of property in Abu Dhabi, and construction on the building began in 2019. The UAE government donated the land for the shrine.
Three further Hindu temples in the United Arab Emirates are situated in Dubai. The BAPS temple will be the biggest in the Gulf, spanning a sizable area and featuring stone architecture.
