Norwegian government holds event to thank those who contributed to the evacuation from Afghanistan

On Tuesday, the Norwegian government held an event to thank those who contributed to evacuating more than 1,100 people from Kabul in August.

On August 28, the last plane with evacuees from Kabul landed in Norway. Within two weeks, Norway evacuated more than 1,100 people after the Taliban seized power in Kabul and Afghanistan.

On Tuesday, the government thanked those who contributed to the evacuation during an event at Akershus Castle in Oslo.

“In a situation that was chaotic, confusing, and dangerous, they carried out one of our most difficult evacuation operations ever,” the government stated.

Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H), Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide (H), Minister of Justice Monica Mæland (H), and Minister of Defense Frank Bakke-Jensen (H) were among those who attended the event.
