Nintendo Officially Launches Its New Animation Studio Nintendo Pictures

Nintendo has officially launched a new animation studio Nintendo Pictures. The Tokyo-based animation studio’s website is now live.

The brand-new business will concentrate on the creation of visual content utilizing Nintendo IP. Nintendo first revealed its plans to buy the animation studio, which was formerly known as Dynamo Pictures, in July. The objective was to buy all of the company’s outstanding shares and turn it into a completely owned subsidiary. Nintendo stated that it intended to rebrand the business Nintendo Pictures Co. Ltd. The acquisition is now complete. The new Nintendo division now has a corporate website, a logo, and a summary of what Nintendo Pictures is all about.

“Through our videos, we aim to make Nintendo characters known to customers around the world and create one-of-a-kind videos that will remain in their memories forever,” the message on the website, which is currently in Japanese reads.

“To this end, each and every one of our employees will work hard to create an organization that can continue to grow, by always considering what could be interesting to customers around the world, and engaging in production work that they enjoy themselves.”

Dynamo Pictures has previously produced notable computer-generated animation for anime. The animations include Yuri on Ice, shorts for the Pikmin series, and films like Earwig and the Witch. The studio also worked on the second season of Netflix‘s Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045. Generally, we may assume that the company only works on animation for movies or television. However, it has historically contributed to CG animation for video games. The firm contributed to the CG in Final Fantasy XIII-2. Dynamo Pictures also did motion capture for Persona 5, Monster Hunter World, Death Stranding, Metroid: Other M, and Nier Replicant.

What is your take? What are your thoughts on Nintendo having its own animation studio now? Also, what kind of projects do you want to see Nintendo Pictures take on? Let us know here on our socials or in the comments below.
