KOTA KINABALU: A man and a woman in their twenties were killed in an accident along Jalan SFI, Sipitang, on Wednesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department reported that a call of an incident involving a Proton Saga (old model) carrying five people came in at 4.59pm.
“It was reported that the vehicle lost control and swerved to the side of the road.
“Two victims were assisted out of the car by civilians and were sent to the hospital using an ambulance, while three others were stuck in the vehicle and were extracted by the firemen.
“Two of the victims extracted were pronounced dead by the medical officer on location, and the bodies were handed over to the police for further action.
“The remaining victim who was injured was sent to the hospital using the Department’s emergency responder’s vehicle,” the Department spokesman said in a statement on Wednesday.
After ensuring no more risks on site, the operation ended at 6.20pm, the spokesman added.
