Former Alabama Crimson head coach Nick Saban could be making his way to the desk of ESPN’s roving college football preview show College GameDay.

The 72-year-old announced his retirement from coaching last week after winning six national championships with the Crimson Tide.

But according to Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, adding Saban to the desk seems like an easier decision than ever – with ESPN sources calling it a ‘no brainer’.

With the SEC set to move from CBS to ESPN next year, there may be no better time to pluck the legendary head coach.

As show staple Lee Corso gets older (now 88), it’s believed that Saban would take over the coach’s role in analysis – all while keeping Corso around for his weekly ‘headgear’ predictions by next fall.

Saban’s retirement announcement on Wednesday was sudden and out of left field – with no indication that the coach was considering stepping aside until it was leaked.

Alabama moved swiftly to replace him – hiring Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer on Friday afternoon.

A number of players have already looked to the transfer portal after Saban’s retirement – with star wideout Isaiah Bond looking for a new team.

Recruits have also de-committed from Alabama as a result of Saban’s departure – including Ryan Williams, a wide-receiver and the nation’s ninth overall recruit.
