With the Detroit Lions’ win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Sunday, the matchup for the 2024 NFC championship game is set.
It’ll be the Lions visiting the San Francisco 49ers. And while it’ll come as no surprise to hear the 49ers are favored, it might be a surprise just how much they’re favored by. The opening line at BetMGM has San Francisco laying a full touchdown against the Lions. That’s right, the Niners are favored by seven.
Given how close Green Bay played the Niners in San Francisco, losing by a mere field goal, it’s jarring to see a superior Lions team get this many points.

Not shown in the tweet above is San Francisco’s moneyline odds, which are currently -300.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see the spread shrink in the days leading up to the game. The Lions have played closer to San Francisco’s level lately. Regardless, the game should be a good one.
