Cleveland Cavaliers Announce Wall Of Honor Class Of 2024

The Cleveland Cavaliers established their Wall of Honor program during the 2019-2020 season to “to recognize deserving former members of the franchise and serve as a special, permanent way to honor those who have played such a distinguished, pivotal role in Cavs history.”

Nine names have been inducted in the program’s first two classes (2019 and 2022), which include John “Hot Rod” Williams, Campy Russell, former head coach Bill Fitch, and former owner Gordon Gund. The Wine and Gold’s eight retired jerseys are also on the Wall of Honor.

On Monday, the Cavaliers announced their third class of Wall of Honor inductees, who will be honored during Cleveland’s March 10 home game against the Brooklyn Nets.

Here are the four members of the team’s Wall of Honor Class of 2024.

Terrell Brandon

The Cavaliers selected Terrell Brandon with the 11th overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. The point guard made an instant impact for Cleveland, as he was named to the 1991-92 NBA All-Rookie Second Team.

During his time as a Cavalier, Brandon was named an All-Star in both 1996 and 1997, finished third in the 1995-96 NBA Most Improved Player voting, and won the league’s 1996-97 NBA Sportsmanship Award.

In 457 regular-season games with Cleveland, he averaged 12.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals per contest, while shooting 36.0% from three-point range and 86.8% from the free-throw line. Brandon ranks top-15 in franchise history in career assists (2,235, fourth), points (5,793, 14th), and games played (457, 15th).

Jim Chones

Jim Chones played five seasons with the Cavaliers from 1974 through 1979, helping lead the team to its first Eastern Conference Finals in franchise history in 1976. However, he unfortunately broke his foot before the series began, and was unable to play in the six-game set.

In 400 regular-season games with the Wine and Gold, the big man averaged 14.3 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per contest. Chones ranks top-15 in franchise history in blocks (450, sixth), total rebounds (3,790, eighth), field goals made (2,456, 12th), and points (5,729, 15th).

After his playing career, he served as a Cavaliers television color analyst for 10 seasons. He is currently the team’s radio color analyst, a role he has served since the 2010-11 season.

Mike Mitchell

Cleveland selected Mike Mitchell with the 15th overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft. The small forward played his first three-plus seasons with the Wine and Gold, averaging 19.3 points, and 5.8 rebounds per game, and shooting 49.5% from the field in 271 regular-season contests.

Mitchell earned his only career NBA All-Star nod in 1981, during a season in which he eventually ranked eighth in the league with a career-best of 24.5 points per game. He was traded to the San Antonio Spurs the following season.

Mitchell passed away in 2011 due to cancer at the age of 55.

Chuck Broski

Chuck Broski is currently the crew chief of the Cavaliers’ stats crew. He has been a statistician for the team since it was founded in 1970.

Broski has been a statistician for three NBA All-Star Games and select games across five NBA Finals.
