New polls show LNP likely to succeed in next QLD state election
Press conference after press conference, The charm offensive rolls on. I’m listening to Queenslanders on spending time on in the regions, sticking to this week’s strategy of community safety. More meetings with police and another police chopper, this time for the Sunshine Coast, more choppers in the sky and more boots on the beat. Today marks six months from the next state election. The Premier’s race around the regions looked and felt like a pseudo election campaign and if he needed another reminder about the countdown, a new opinion poll. Wasn’t the LP side of politics I would be thinking about what types of furniture I’m going to save, because at the moment it’s hard to see how they will be re-elected in October. Today’s You Gov poll commissioned by News Corp showing the LNP’s primary vote is 44% while Labour’s is 27. Six percent of those surveyed were undecided and excluded from the poll. It also shows the LNP leading Labour 56% to 44. Two party preferred. The premier says he’s not surprised. We’ve known for some time that David Christopher Lee and the LNP are ahead and most likely to win the next election. Following that concession, he later refined his message. I am campaigning and working just as hard as I can and we are determined to win this election. His political opponent though downplaying the polling. We’ve got a massive mountain to climb and we still need to win fourteen seats and that is a herculean task. Now opinion polls are just a snapshot in time, but the signs are looking increasingly worrying for Labour, the Premier again trying to heat pressure on David crusifully and the LNP to outline more details for their plans with six months to go.
