The supermodel celebrated the milestone on Instagram She shared footage of herself crossing her legs in a mauve teddy and heels READ MORE: Porizkova shows off hip replacement surgery scars in racy selfie
Paulina Porizkova is celebrating a major milestone since her bilateral hip replacement surgery: crossing her legs for the first time in three years.
The supermodel showed off her accomplishment in style on Instagram, sharing footage of herself sitting on her bed in a sultry mauve teddy and metallic heels.
Porizkova, 58, gave a slight wince as she leaned back and slowly lifted one leg over the other, but she was smiling once her legs were crossed.
‘Aiming to make hip replacements look sexy,’ she wrote in the caption. ‘The last time I was able to cross my legs — was three years ago at this cover shoot with my girlfriend [Jill Greenberg].’

Greenberg photographed Porizkova in nothing but high heels for The Times Magazine’s January 2022 cover. The shoot presumably took place months before.
‘Then I went to the jungles of Panama to do a survivor-type reality show Beyond The Edge,’ she explained. I made wonderful new friends — and totally effed my hips.
‘So it is with great pleasure I resume leg crossing.’
Porizkova was forced to undergo bilateral hip replacement surgery in January after wearing out ‘all’ of her cartilage due to congenital hip dysplasia.
‘The three doctors I’ve visited all recoiled when they saw my X-rays,’ the Czech-born beauty told her Instagram followers.
‘”Well, it’s bone on bone!” they exclaimed. “At least we know you’re good with pain tolerance!” It’s so bad, in fact, that doing one hip at [a] time is pointless. It would actually impede the healing and mobility.’
‘Hip dysplasia is the medical term for a hip socket that doesn’t fully cover the ball portion of the upper thighbone,’ according to the Mayo Clinic. ‘This allows the hip joint to become partially or completely dislocated.’
Porizkova said she was just grateful it was ‘a fixable problem’ and she found a doctor she ‘really trusts, one who specializes in anterior hip replacements.’

Before going under the knife, Porizkova and her boyfriend, Jeff Greenstein, enjoyed ‘one last vacation with [her] old hips’ on the Caribbean island of St. Barts.
A week after the procedure, she revealed her scars on Instagram, including a selfie and two close-up photos of her healing wounds.
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit alum posed in her bathroom mirror wearing only a robe and underwear to showcase the two diagonal incisions on her bikini line.
She explained in the caption that scarring was a concern for her, so she sought out an orthopedic surgeon with experience with the bikini incision hip replacement.
This technique only requires a small, diagonal incision at the front of the hip that can often be hidden with swimsuit bottoms, according to the American Hip Institute.
Porizkova then had her incisions sewn up by a ‘skilled’ plastic surgeon, who worked closely with her orthopedic surgeon, to give her the best chance at discreet scars.
‘Going into this surgery, I couldn’t help but think about scars. The ones I have, I embrace. But I have no desire to make new ones,’ she wrote.
‘On our vacation, I kept saying goodbye to the smooth skin across my hip bones, even as I felt guilty for being vain.

Porizkova also shared two up-close photos of her healing wounds. ‘I know the incisions will soon become a part of me. They will be a reminder of old pain and new victories,’ she said
Porizkova has been documenting her recovery on Instagram. She is pictured at a doctor’s appointment two weeks post-op
‘When I shopped for orthopedic specialists, I did factor in the way in which they made incisions.’
Paulina enlisted orthopedic surgeon Dr. Roy Davidovitch, who previously replaced one of Alec Baldwin’s hips, because he was ‘one who did the ‘bikini’ scar routinely.’
He also was ‘entirely game’ to let his trusted friend and New York City-based plastic surgeon Dr. Pierre Saadeh ‘close up the incisions.’
‘After surgery, the incisions were covered for three days. “It’ll look gnarly when you remove the dressings,” Dr. Davidovitch cautioned me. So pre-warned, I found the incisions mostly — interesting?’ she explained.
‘I studied the placement of the incisions, the way the stitches were made and admired the handiwork of two skilled doctors. It’s like they belonged to someone else…
‘Today is day 7 post-op/ 1 week. I know the incisions will soon become a part of me. They will be a reminder of old pain and new victories,’ she continued.
‘They will join all of the other inscriptions on my body and mind — both visible and invisible — all of which, ultimately, will be the glue that holds me together, a netting of past fractures which have healed stronger.
‘They will become a part of what constitutes the map of me. And like all other scars on my outside and inside, I will accept them. I will be proud of them.
‘But I have no intention of courting new ones,’ the model concluded.
