Never met Wankhede before NCB raid, drug users' parents will see me as good person: Gosavi | EXCLUSIVE

A key independent witness in the Aryan Khan case, KP Gosavi, has been summoned by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for questioning. Gosavi has a lookout notice against him issued by the Pune Police in connection with a 2018 cheating case.

In an exclusive conversation with India Today, Gosavi said he will record his statement at the NCB office in Mumbai before surrendering to Pune Police.

KP Gosavi said he met Sam D’Souza on October 2, the day NCB officers led by zonal director Sameer Wankhede arrested Aryan Khan and seven others from Mumbai’s international cruise terminal.

Prabhakar Sail, another independent witness who worked as Gosavi’s bodyguard, has claimed he overheard Gosavi and one Sam D’Souza discussing a Rs 25 crore pay-off to let Aryan Khan go. They were talking about giving Rs 8 crore to Sameer Wankhede, Sail alleged in an affidavit last week.

Responding to the allegations, Gosavi told India Today that he never went to the NCB office in Mumbai before October 2. “I never met Sameer Wankhede before the raid, only saw him on television,” claimed Gosavi.

Gosavi on video of him outside NCB office before raid

Asked about a video of him at the NCB office in Mumbai hours before the October 2 raid, Gosavi says the Cruise Terminal is 400 metres from the agency’s office.

“When we searched online for the nearest NCB office, we found the address and went there,” said KP Gosavi.

He goes on to say, “Manish Bhanushali was the first to get information about the rave party [on Cordelia Cruises’ Empress ship]. I was with Manish that day. The NCB also received a phone call about the rave party.”

“The NCB only had the names of four-five people but our information suggested that 27 people were going to attend the party. This is why the NCB believed our information,” says Gosavi.

Many people have misunderstood me: Gosavi

Gosavi went further to say, “Many people have misunderstood me, but parents whose children consume drugs will see me as a good person. They will only pray for us. There has been a reduction in drugs coming into Mumbai ever since this action [NCB raid].”

“A witness does not work for money. I have a good import-export business. If witnesses were getting paid, we would only work as witnesses,” added Gosavi.

Gosavi also said that he has no links with Sam D’Souza. “When NCB officers did not entertain us, Manish said he had a friend who is familiar with the agency and spoke to him. This is when we called NCB through him [Sam] and reached the agency’s office at 7.30 pm on the day of the raid,” KP Gosavi told India Today.

Asked about the cheating case registered against him, Gosavi said, “I have to sort out the case in Pune but NCB officials who have come from Delhi have sent me summons. They went to my residence in Mumbai but it was locked. They are tracing my location through the department and private agencies, which is why I am not switching my cell phone on.”

“I will go to the NCB office in Mumbai and record my statement before going to Pune. If Mumbai Police comes there, I have no problem,” Gosavi added.
