Netflix's Wednesday has begun production in Ireland

Production of the second season of the hit Netflix show Wednesday has begun in Ireland. As well as the star’s lead actress Jenna Ortega, the second season of Wednesday will also feature Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, and Thandiwe Newton as guest stars.
Meanwhile, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, Isaac Ordonez, and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo will return for the show’s second season. Steve Buscemi, Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Noah Taylor will appear in the series.
Since the premiere of its first season in 2022, Wednesday has become the most-watched English-language series on Netflix. It has a staggering 252.10 million views, currently.
The series is a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday’s years as a student at Nevermore Academy. It was announced last November that production of the second season of the hit series would move to Ireland, with most of the filming due to take place at Ardmore and Ashford Studio in Co Wicklow.
Ardmore Studios has been involved in the production of some big hits including Braveheart, Vikings, and Moone Boy. On Tuesday, Netflix announced that production of the highly anticipated second season of the show had begun.
“We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces,” said showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar. The first season of the series was filmed in Romania. However, it was reported that the location presented logistical issues.
Wednesday season 2 will not premiere on Netflix until 2025. The series spent 20 weeks on the Global Top 10 and reached the Top 10 in 93 countries when it was first released.
It has nearly double the views of the second-most viewed English-language series on Netflix, Stranger Things Season 4. Following its success, its filming locations became big tourist attractions in Romania.
