PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah said PN is capable of recording a strong win, whether the candidate is from Gerakan, PAS or Bersatu.
PETALING JAYA: A Gerakan candidate might contest the coming Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election for Perikatan Nasional, but a decision will be made by the coalition’s top leadership soon, says a PAS leader.
PAS vice-president Amar Abdullah said the possibility of a Gerakan candidate is based on an agreement between the coalition’s component parties during the state elections last August.
He said PN is capable of recording a strong win in the by-election. “We are confident that PN can wrest this seat, whether the candidate is from Gerakan, PAS or Bersatu,” he said, Sinar Harian reported.
Amar said there have been many issues that have caused voters to dislike Pakatan Harapan.
Kuala Kubu Baharu voters go to the polls on May 11 following the death of three-term assemblyman, DAP’s Lee Kee Hiong, on March 21 after a battle with cancer.
This is the seventh by-election since the 15th general election in November 2022.
