Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal road-traffic accident on the N17 in Mayo.
The incident occurred at Lisduff, between Ballindine and Claremorris in the south of the county.
It is understood that a vehicle swerved off the road around 6:30pm this evening after a Status Red weather warning came into effect and Storm Isha battered the west coast.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said the road had been closed and would remain closed overnight.
“Gardaí are currently at the scene of a road traffic collision on the N17 at Lisduff, Claremorris, County Mayo,” they confirmed.
“The road is currently closed and will be closed overnight. Diversions are through Ballindine village and Claremorris.
“No further information is available at this time,” they added.
