Finally! Margot Robbie heads back to black and can ditch the Barbie pink

She spent much of last year dressed head-to-toe in pink as the Barbie marketing blitz stormed the globe.

Now that the awards season is over, however, it seems Margot Robbie has put all that behind her for a more sophisticated look.

The Australian actress, 33, has ditched Barbie’s long, beach-blonde wavy hair for a sleek ‘lob’ or long bob.

She showed off the new cut at the 10th annual Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Los Angeles, teaming it with a black strapless Rick Owens gown worth €1,080 and striking jewellery by Jennifer Meyer.

Other stars at Saturday’s event, which honours those with notable accomplishments in maths and science, included Katy Perry, Jessica Chastain and Olivia Wilde.

Ms Robbie’s final outing in support of Barbie was at last month’s Oscars after a marketing drive in which she wore a series of bespoke attire inspired by the character’s outfits of the past.

‘I hated pink when I was a kid because I was embarrassed to embrace my femininity,’ she said about the colour.

Toy giant Mattel calculated it had a revenue boost of $150million thanks to the Barbie film, including doll sales. Last week it was announced Ms Robbie will be a producer on a film based on the classic board game Monopoly.
