Leigh-Anne Pinnock revealed she will narrate an audiobook version of the original Little Mermaid on Thursday.

Taking to Instagram, The Little Mix singer, 31, posted a photograph of herself in an intricate outfit as she made the announcement.

She lay on a bed of flowers on a blue background, designed to look as though she was lying in the ocean herself.

The beauty sported a strapless studded white gown for the gorgeous snap.

Leigh-Anne captioned her post: ‘I’m so excited to be narrating the original Hans Christian Anderson version of The Little Mermaid exclusively for @audible_uk.

She continued: ‘Dina Gregory is such an incredible storyteller; reading her adaptation truly made me feel seen in a story I’ve been so familiar with as a child.

‘There are so many themes within this now iconic storyline that feel so familiar to my own life and so my narration was inspired by not only my experiences but also my culture, my heritage.

‘My hope is that people like myself can see themselves in this story too and I’ve enjoyed retelling this tale to my own children already.

‘I hope you all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed narrating it! x’

It comes after Leigh-Anne was feeling a little blue earlier this month as she jetted off to America without her fiancé Andre Gray.

The singer took to Twitter to share how she was finding their long distance relationship really tough as she begins work on her new solo career.

Leigh-Anne wrote as she caught a fly: ‘Long distance sucks. I want my safety net. Especially now can anyone relate? X’

A fan replied: ‘It really sucks but distance sometimes can prove if the friendship or relationship is strong enough to last.’

Meanwhile, over on her Instagram Leigh-Anne celebrated International Women’s Day with a cover of Weak by the band SWV.

At the end of the video there was a sweet moment the songstress spoke to her twins, whom she welcomed with Andre in August 2021.

Andre, 31, proposed to Leigh-Anne in May 2020 with a £40,000 diamond ring after four years of dating.

She wrote: ‘Happy #InternationalWomensDay! I really wanted to share something special this year so I recorded a little cover of one of my all time favourite songs by one of the greatest girl groups of all time.

‘I’ve been singing this since I was little and it felt fitting to sing it for #IWD. I hope you enjoy it! And don’t worry, there’s much more to come so stay tuned… Leigh-Anne xx’.

Fellow bandmate Perrie Edwards commented on the cover. She wrote: ‘Dreamy, buttery gorgeous’.

Back in February last year, it was announced Leigh-Anne had signed a solo deal with Warner Records, after her band Little Mix announced their hiatus.

The songstress joined the record label which is also home to the likes of Dua Lipa, Saweetie and Ed Sheeran.

An announcement on the official Warner Records UK Twitter account stated: ‘Delighted to welcome Leigh-Anne Pinnock to the Warner Records family! Sign up to her mailing list to hear about exciting news first!’

The pop star is set to work with MNEK on her new record after teaming up with the musician while in Little Mix.

Her former bandmate Jesy Nelson is also said to be in advanced talks with Warner Records after parting ways with Polydor in July last year  due to ‘creative differences’.

Motherhood:  Leigh-Anne is busy as a mother of two after giving birth to twins in August 2021

Little Mix announced their split after their last tour, with a statement reading: ‘We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix. 

‘We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay. We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future.

‘We’ve made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can’t wait to make so many more.
