The future of sex toys: An ejaculation trainer, a new phone sex app for long distance intimacy and the first vibrator to use sound waves

From premature ejaculation to phone sex – companies at CES in Las Vegas want to treat problems in the bedroom with technology.

Long distance relationships can take their toll and two companies pitching their high-tech sex toys let you hook up with a partner no matter the distance between you. They work just as easily with a stranger, too.

And for men who have trouble lasting in the bedroom, a connected device will train you to control the muscles associated with having an orgasm.

In past years sex tech was huge at the massive annual consumer electronics show – but this year out on the show floor, we only found a handful of companies selling high-tech intimacy.

All of them can be used online or offline, with a partner or alone.

This FDA-cleared medical device looks like a sex toy, but it’s actually a training device to help men learn how to prevent early release.

And it’s one of few sex tech devices with clinical trial results to back up its effectiveness.

The masturbation contraption not only has a skin-like texture, but a connected cover also warms it up to give it an extra realistic feel.

MYHIXEL’s device connects to an app, and movement and speed sensors can tell the app exactly what you’re doing.

At the same time, training modules in the app will help you get in tune with your muscles and teach you how to control your release.

Once you finish a training session, the gamified app can tell you how you performed, offering tips for improvement.

MYHIXEL is currently in clinical trials, including with the US Army.

The device costs $299.

Fleshlight that brings porn fantasies to life – and makes long distance relationships more intimate

When we approached the booth for Spanish sex tech company Svakom, in the health tech section of the Las Vegas Convention Center, it was clear right away that this was not a fitness tracker company.

Tablets on stands showed videos of women jumping rope, or turned around shaking their rear ends. And sitting next to each tablet was a cylindrical device pumping up and down in time to the video.

These Bluetooth-connected strokers are meant to bring a customer’s experience of watching adult materials to the next level, coordinating the motions of the sex toy with what you are watching on the screen.

Svakom partners with porn producers to custom-code their videos to synchronize with the devices. Videos are available on the Svakom app, a subscription service that is paid after a one-month free trial.

Their best-selling device, which costs $99, produces suction in addition to the up and down motion.

The soft sleeves are made of a thermoplastic elastomer and last 60 to 80 uses, depending on how much the user stretches it. Replacements cost $19 to $24.

Beyond their hardware, though, Svakom is taking data privacy seriously.

Part of the appeal of connected sex toys is that users can take control of one another’s devices for long-distance play, either with a committed partner or with a stranger on the internet – or anyone in between.

But many customers are concerned about their privacy, ever since reports of hackers exposing vulnerabilities in these web-connected devices that could enable someone to control your toys without your permission.

To address some of these concerns, Svakom incorporated multiple privacy measures.

First of all, its app asks for no personal data and collects no personal data – so the company doesn’t really even know who is using their toys, they told DailyMail.com.

‘We don’t know ages, we don’t know genders,’ said Iker Perez, Svakom’s head of digital marketing. ‘We don’t have any servers where we store information, nothing.’

And when people connect with one another using the video chat feature, attempting to take a screenshot will make the screen go black, like with Netflix and other streaming apps.

Perhaps the most unique security feature, though, is the sharing codes.

Each time users want to play with each other remotely over the app, it generates a single-use encrypted key.

Next time you want to share your toy with someone, you have to use a new key, meaning someone can’t keep control of your device if you don’t want them to.

Perez also showed off a vibrator that can be used via app by swiping a smartphone screen – swiping high on the screen creates high-frequency vibrations, and lower down creates rumblier low-frequency vibrations.

It even responds to sound, for those who want to wear them out and about to concerts

Handy for vibing to sound

Norwegian sex tech company Handy released a new vibrator at CES this year, called the ‘Oh!’

It’s a wireless, Bluetooth connected vibrator that uses sound waves to produce vibrations.

The sound waves are generated by LRA motors, like those in a PlayStation 5 controller.

While using the Oh! device, users can control the frequency and amplitude of the waves through an app.

The motor is so precise that it can even generate music, which the folks at Handy showed by playing Metallica for us on the vibrator.

Oh! can be used by anyone and it costs $150. It will be available in the spring of 2024, and is available for 50 percent off with preorder on the company’s website.

It can be paired to videos or music to sync vibrations in time with whatever you’re watching or listening to, and it can even be paired with the company’s penis-stroking device, aptly called the Handy.

The Handy, the company’s flagship product, consists of an electronic base and a soft, thermoplastic elastomer sleeve.

With the base firmly mounted to a surface, the soft stretchy sleeve moves up and down to simulate sex or masturbation.

So if a couple wanted to get intimate from a distance, they could pair their devices and have them vibrate or thrust with the same rhythm – whether they are in different rooms or across the globe.

Handy, too, can be linked to videos or sound to make a user feel like they are part of the experience.

The stroker base costs about $200, and each sleeve attachment is between $15 and $39. Unlike the Svakom ones, they are made to last for life, with proper care.

Handy’s devices can also be linked together for remote play, but unlike Svakom, users will share the same unique code each time, rather than a newly generated one.
