Musk made the statement after previously debunking a rumor about an attempt by Apple to buy Tesla years ago. According to a new book, Musk would have demanded that he become CEO of Apple if the takeover went through. Musk repeated what he had previously said about the situation, saying that he had just reached out to Apple, but Apple CEO Tim Cook would not speak to him.
“There was a point where I requested a meeting with Cook to discuss an acquisition of Tesla,” Musk said on Twitter. “But terms were never discussed because he didn’t want to meet me.” According to Musk, Tesla’s stock market value at the time was 6 percent of what the company is now worth.
