Muhyiddin berkata beliau didekati Najib dan beberapa orang perantaranya untuk memohon supaya individu itu digugurkan daripada pasukan pendakwaan dalam kes rasuah yang sedang berjalan.
Global Tech News Daily“Walaupun mengugut dengan saman fitnah, tiada tindakan susulan daripada pihak Najib selepas respons yang diberikan Muhyiddin,” kata sumber dalaman Umno yang rapat dengan kem Najib kepada MalaysiaNow.
Pada September, Muhyiddin menerima surat tuntutan daripada peguam Najib, mendesaknya untuk menjelaskan sama ada beliau merupakan dalang di sebalik “khabar angin” yang mengatakan Najib meminta beliau untuk campur tangan dalam kes mahkamahnya.

Presiden Bersatu itu membuat dakwaan tersebut pada Ogos tahun lalu, ketika kempen Najib dan Presiden Umno Ahmad Zahid Hamidi untuk menumbangkan pentadbirannya sedang memuncak.
Ia disusuli dengan desakan jurucakap Bersatu Wan Saiful Wan Jan yang mahu Najib dan Zahid tampil menjelaskan dakwaan yang mengatakan mereka adalah orang yang dimaksudkan Muhyiddin.
Kedua-dua Najib dan Zahid jika dicampurkan, berdepan lebih dari 80 pertuduhan jenayah berkait salah guna kuasa, pengubahan wang haram dan pecah amanah.
Walaupun Muhyiddin menjadi perdana menteri dengan sokongan Umno pada Mac 2020, beliau bagaimanapun berikrar untuk tidak mencampuri kes mahkamah melibatkan sekumpulan ahli Parlimen Umno, yang turut dikenali sebagai kluster mahkamah.
Pada Oktober 2020, MalaysiaNow melaporkan Muhyiddin didekati Zahid dalam usaha untuk menggugurkan kes rasuahnya.
“Namun beliau pulang dengan kecewa, bersama fail yang dibawanya,” kata sumber kepada MalaysiaNow berhubung pertemuan sulit pada Mac 2020, selepas beberapa hari Muhyiddin memegang kawatan perdana menteri.
‘Penjenayah yang disabitkan bersalah’
Isu campur tangan kehakiman kembali menjadi tumpuan minggu lalu selepas Maimun, berkata tiada individu yang menemui beliau untuk campur tangan dan menegaskan anggota kehakiman negara akan terus bersikap bebas ketika ditanya berhubung dakwaan Muhyiddin.
Susulan kenyataan Maimun, Pengerusi Pakatan Harapan Anwar Ibrahim mendesak Muhyiddin untuk menjelaskan tuduhan wujud permintaan supaya beliau campur tangan dalam kes rasuah yang sedang berjalan.
Dalam jawapan Muhyiddin yang dilihat MalaysiaNow, beliau berkata kenyataan yang dibuat berhubung cubaan untuk meminta beliau campur tangan dalam sistem kehakiman tidak pernah menamakan Najib.
Sebaliknya, beliau berkata Najib sendiri yang mendedahkan dirinya dengan mengeluarkan notis tuntutan tersebut.
Dalam jawapannya kepada peguam Najib, Muhyiddin turut menyifatkan pemimpin Umno itu sebagai “penjenayah yang sudah disabitkan bersalah”.
“Dengan sabitannya itu, klien anda tidak boleh, dalam apa jua keadaan, berhak ke atas sebarang kerosakan bagi sebarang dakwaan reputasinya terjejas.”
Bulan lalu, Mahkamah Rayuan menolak permohonan Najib untuk menggugurkan sabitan bersalahnya berkait dana RM42 juta yang dimasukkan dalam akaun bank peribadinya.
Pada Julai 2020, Mahkamah Tinggi menjatuhkan hukuman 10 tahun penjara bagi enam pertuduhan berkait kesalahan pecah amanah, pengubahan wang haram dan 12 tahun bagi kesalahan salah guna kuasa – dengan jumlah keseluruhan 72 tahun.
Beliau juga turut dikenakan denda RM210 juta atau lima kali jumlah amaun dana yang terlibat.
Bagaimanapun, hakim berkata Najib akan menjalani hukuman tersebut secara serentak selama 12 tahun.
