Eishockey-Nationalspieler Leon Draisaitl und die Edmonton Oilers haben den Frust über den verpassten Rekord in der nordamerikanischen Profiliga NHL offenbar schnell abgeschüttelt. Drei Tage nach der Niederlage bei den Vegas Golden Knights gewannen die Oilers ihr Spiel bei den Anaheim Ducks mit 5:3.

Draisaitl erzielte im finalen Drittel in Überzahl den Treffer zum 4:3, der die Oilers zum ersten Mal in Führung brachte. Zudem steuerte er einen Assist bei. Überragender Akteur bei den Kanadiern war jedoch Evander Kane mit drei Toren. Zudem servierte Draisaitls kongenialer Sturmpartner Connor McDavid drei Vorlagen, unter anderem zum Treffer des Kölners.

Mit 61 Punkten liegen die Oilers dank ihrer überragenden Form der vergangenen Wochen inzwischen klar auf Playoff-Kurs. Durch einen Sieg gegen Vegas am Montagabend (Ortszeit) hätten die Oilers den NHL-Rekord von 17 Siegen in Folge einstellen können. Diesen halten seit der Saison 1992/93 die Pittsburgh Penguins.

Eine knappe Niederlage setzte es unterdessen für Lukas Reichel und die Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago, das nach Punkten schlechteste Team der Liga, verlor zu Hause gegen die New York Rangers nach Verlängerung mit 3:4. Reichel blieb in knapp zehn Minuten Einsatzzeit ohne Torbeteiligung.
