Dozens of protesters took to Delta Port this morning to call for a ceasefire in Gaza. They arrived around 7:30 this morning with their attention focused on an Israeli shipping company operating out of the port. Zim is one of the one of the main companies that has been coming into ports all along the West Coast of the US and Canada. Arming Israeli military And so people have been blocking Zim ships for over a decade. Those ships and those arms come through the Delta port, and this protest was coordinated with multiple cities around the world as part of a global day of action. Globally, there’s probably over 50. Places where people are taking action against arms manufacturers against. Against really many companies who are complicit in what’s happening. And so, yeah, this is part of a global day of action and this will probably continue. In Halifax, 21 people who were protesting the war in Gaza have been arrested. Today that protest ended as police say those 21 people refused to leave the roadway while several protesters remained in Delta. Traffic started flowing again around 11:00 AM after backups for hours. Trucks and other vehicles backed up more than 5 kilometers at one point, with Delta police on scene monitoring the situation. Andrea McPherson, Global News.
