The figures for how many people have been rejected entry at the border apply up to and including week 21 this year.
The Eastern Police District accounts for over 60% of entry rejections in the country, with over 4,500 cases so far this year.
Rejection of entry
According to the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI), foreign nationals can be rejected. Rejection means that they are denied entry to Norway or that they must leave the country.
A rejection is only a temporary prohibition, the UDI notes on its website, so the people in question can return to Norway at a later time.
