Moose on the Loose: Barkley staying or going?

NEW YORK (PIX11) — The New York Giants have made it clear where they stand on running back Saquon Barkley. The Giants will speak with Barkley on a new contract but are unlikely to use the franchise tag for him, which would cost Big Blue $12.1 million.

Barkley will test the open market along with other free-agent running backs. At his best, Barkley is the best dual-threat running back in his position.

Moose on the Loose: Rangers are Stanley Cup contenders

Barkley has made it clear that he wants to remain a Giant and be here for life. The Giants organization value him, but they also know they have a number of issues that need to be rectified as a team. They also know that their timeline to win, and Barkley’s value as a running back, may not be the same.

I love Saquon. As a player, the Giants would love to have him back, but the price needs to be right.
