A huge fire has broken out in south Wales, shocking images showing plumes of smoke billowing near the station as firefighters battle desperately to put it out.

Pictures showed residents gathering to watch the brave efforts of the emergency services near an industrial estate in Newport.

The fire was reported to have started around 8:50pm on Sunday night.

The cause of the inferno was not immediately clear, but an eyewitness claimed on X, formerly Twitter, ‘the warehouse next to Tiny Rebel brewery in Rogestone has just gone completely up in flames’.

A South Wales Fire and Rescue spokesperson said firefighters are still ‘trying to get to grips’ with the blaze.
