Manchester United and Luton Town played out a thrilling Premier League encounter at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds stormed into a 2-0 lead after seven minutes after Rasmus Hojlund became the youngest-ever player to score in six consecutive league games with two goals. Luton pulled themselves back into the game in the 14th minute when Carlton Morris headed past Andre Onana after United failed to clear Alfie Doughty’s cross.

The remaining half hour of the first half saw Casemiro escape a possible second yellow card and the home side coming close to equalising. And amid the end-to-end contest playing out at Kenilworth Road, emotions got the better of some.

Sky Sports microphones picked up some Luton supporters’ frustration with some foul language aired live. Following the pick-up of the language, commentator Peter Drury said: “Apologies if you’re hearing in this very tight stadium some language which you’d rather not hear.”

Jokingly, co-commentator Gary Neville added: “Turn the TV up if you do!” The procedure of commentators apologising for language picked up from the stands is a common theme in the Premier League, especially at Luton with the stands so close to the players.

The incident came when Marcus Rashford went down after being accidentally struck in the face inside the Luton penalty box. The United star went down holding his face but no penalty was given.

Drury was then forced to apologise once again in 52nd minute after more abuse was heard. He said: “If you heard some more strong language then, if so, if you are offended then apologies.

“We are very close to the action.”
