Manchester United will not sack Erik ten Hag before the end of the season despite growing pressure on the Dutchman following Sunday’s FA Cup chaos against Coventry City.
United looked to be cruising into a second consecutive FA Cup final having taken a 3-0 lead against Championship opposition thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.
But another woeful capitulation allowed Coventry to score three times in 25 minutes, forcing extra time where they also struck the bar before being denied a dramatic winner after a VAR check.
United limped into next month’s final against Manchester City after winning 4-2 on penalties.
It continued a pattern of United collapsing under pressure that has effectively ended the club’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season, surrendering leads late on against Liverpool, Chelsea and Brentford in recent weeks.
Pressure has piled on ten Hag with Jamie Carragher and Alan Shearer among the pundits effectively calling time on his reign as United boss in the wake of Sunday’s performance.
The Guardian report however ten Hag’s job is safe for now, with no plans to part ways with the former Ajax boss before the FA Cup final showdown against City on 25 May.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe watched on in horror as United crumbled on Sunday but the INEOS chief will stick with ten Hag for the remainder of the season.
Ratcliffe and the United hierarchy are understood to have accepted the high number of injuries the club have suffered as a factor in their underwhelming season.
However, it remains to be seen whether he will remain at the helm beyond the summer. Ten Hag signed a three-year deal after arriving in Manchester in 2022 and will enter the final year of that contract this summer.
England boss Gareth Southgate has been strongly linked with the role should United part ways with ten Hag with reports in Germany on Sunday claiming INEOS have already reached out to Thomas Tuchel.
The former Chelsea boss will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current campaign and is thought to be strongly under consideration at Old Trafford.
The German’s preference is thought to be to return to the Premier League, despite interest from Barcelona.
