tendulkar, gavaskar, dhoni snubbed as england great david lloyd picks all-time test xi; selects virat kohli
Former England cricketer and umpire David Lloyd named his all-time Test XI. Lloyd, who represented England from 1973 to 1980, only picked players who played international cricket after 1965. Lloyd selected just one Indian in his all-time Test team and snubbed veterans like Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.
In David Lloyd’s team, he picked England’s Graham Gooch and South Africa’s Barry Richards as openers. At no. 3, he slotted in West Indies legend Vivian Richards. Following Richards was legendary Brian Lara. Lloyd selected England’s flamboyant batter Kevin Pietersen and modern-day great Virat Kohli at no. 5.
Gary Sobers from the West Indies and Adam Gilchrist from Australia were no.6 and 7 in Lloyd’s all-time Test XI. Pakistan legend Wasim Akram and Australia pacer Dennis Lillee were the two pacers in the team while two of the greatest spinners – Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne completed the team.
