Mya Hooten, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, wowed the judges with her floor routine at Monday’s meet against the University of Michigan

The 19-year-old earned a perfect 10 for her routine, which was set to an instrumental medley of songs from Beyoncé’s Homecoming
When Hooten wasn’t jumping or flipping in the air during her powerful tumbling passes, she was showing off her dance moves, which had significant meaning.
After landing her second pass — a front handspring to a front full and a front pike — she pushes herself away from an unseen force.
Hooten told PopSugar earlier this month that move is meant to denote combatting hatred that the black community faces.
She then moves her hands to cover her mouth ‘because sometimes we don’t have a voice.’ When she gets down on know knee and puts her hands behind her back, it is meant to signify getting arrested and then breaking free.

Monday’s performance marked the second perfect 10 of Hooten’s college career
‘I want people to see how much I care about what’s all happening and that I’m still standing strong,’ she said. ‘That we’re all standing strong.’
Minnesota Women’s Gymnastics tweeted a video of Hooten’s routine on Monday, writing: ‘MYA CLOSES US OUT WITH A PERFECT 10!’
The video has been viewed more than 290,000 times and received plenty of praise from fans who were awed by her talent.
‘The fist and the crown… you better show off your greatness! This was so awesome,’ one person wrote, while another added: ‘I’m sure this made Beyoncé smile! Awesome job!!!’

Hooten’s teammate Ona Loper, a fifth-year senior from South Carolina, also scored a 10 on Monday after a perfect vault

Olympic gold medalist Sunisa Lee was among the fans who praised Hooten after Minnesota Women’s Gymnastics tweeted a video of her routine
‘Magnificent!! So flawless it matches with that Homecoming Beyoncé girlssd slayyyyy,’ someone else agreed.
The tweet even attracted the attention of gold medalist Sunisa Lee, a fellow Minnesota native and the 2020 Olympic all-around champion.
‘Wow,’ wrote the 18-year-old, who made her NCAA debut this month as a freshman on Auburn University’s women’s gymnastics team.
Hooten made history at the University of Michigan last year when she became the school’s first female gymnast to get a perfect 10 on the floor exercise.
Monday’s performance marked the second perfect 10 of her college career, but she wasn’t the only one who had a flawless performance that night.
Hooten’s teammate Ona Loper — a fifth-year senior from South Carolina — scored a 10 on vault.
