Celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes has revealed quite the unique makeup hack that could have you completely change the way that you apply your lipstick.

Hughes, who has performed her makeup artistry on the likes of A-list celebs such as Hailey Bieber, Ashley Graham and Karlie Kloss, shared the tutorial on TikTok this week.

She often takes to her social media platforms to share her various makeup and beauty tips and tricks with followers.

In this video, she explained a technique that would have your lipstick looking even better than before.

In a new video posted to TikTok, celebrity makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes revealed an amazing hack for applying lipstick

Hughes shared a different way of applying lipstick, telling viewers not to apply it in the traditional way where the front of the bullet faces your lips

The makeup artist’s video reached more than 13,000 views on TikTok since it was posted earlier this week

‘I have a slightly different lipstick application hack for you this morning,’ Hughes began the video.

‘We are not going to apply our lipstick with that part of the bullet,’ she explained, pointing out the tip of the lipstick as she tilted it to the side.

She explained that when you applied your lipstick this way, you had a ‘reduced visibility on the actual lip line.’

‘However, when you flip the bullet around, that angle lets your see everything a little bit better,’ the makeup artist continued.

She turned the lipstick around so that the backside of the bullet was facing her lips.

Using the backside of the lipstick, she colored in the left side of her top lip.

This technique let her do so in a super controlled, precise manner.

To show a comparison, she also applied the lipstick to the right side of her top lip using the traditional lipstick application method.

Instead, Hughes turned the back of the lipstick bullet to face her lips, explaining that it would result in a more precise application

‘However, when you flip the bullet around, that angle lets your see everything a little bit better,’ the makeup artist explained in the video

As she applied the lipstick in this way, she explained that she felt like she had ‘more control’

Hughes has been the makeup artist on multiple magazine spreads, including Glamour and Rolling Stone

• Instead of using the lipstick with the bullet facing forward, she suggests turning it around 
• She recommends applying your lipstick using the backside of the bullet 

‘This, for me, feels more cumbersome, and it’s easy for me to kind of go outside of the lip line higher versus when I do this, I have more control,’ she explained.

She then moved on to applying the mauve color to her bottom lip.

‘And for the bottom lip, honestly same thing,’ Hughes continued, as she took the lipstick, which was from the brand MAC Cosmetics in the color Whirl to her bottom lip.

‘Just go where the lip opens first as opposed to the lip line, and then kind of the same thing, it’s better when you use the tip of the bullet.’

The finished product?

A perfectly stunning and evenly-applied lip.

‘Humor me and let me know what it looks like or let me know what you think,’ Hughes concluded.

In the comments section, many were seemingly impressed by the hack, or were already doing it themselves.

Hughes also used a similar technique to paint the bottom of her lip, using the Mac Cosmetics lipstick in the color Whirl

At the end of the clip, she showed off the final product, asking viewers to let her know what they thought of the technique

In the comments section of her TikTok post, some people admitted that they had been using this technique themselves

‘I agree completely and still, I can’t do it, just can’t. You are 100% correct,’ one person wrote.

Another agreed, ‘I’m going I try this! Just yesterday I went outside the lip line doing this.’

‘I’ve always done it that way… didn’t even know people did it the other way,’ someone else typed.

A user even chimed in, admitting, ‘Literally always do this!! Have been called a lunatic for it before though haha.’
