Micah Parsons Explains Pre-Draft Move with Philadelphia
In Dallas, this will certainly be misconstrued as “Micah Parsons hates the Philadelphia Eagles,” and maybe that angle will be the best one in terms of adding to the rich history of this NFL rivalry.
But the Cowboys star and Pennsylvania native did indeed stiff the Eagles as part of the NFL Draft process in 2021 … and now he is explaining why.
And it’s not really about “hate” … and is also might explain in part why he’s a Cowboy rather than an Eagle.
Micah Parsons Explains Pre-Draft Move with Philadelphia
Said Micah on his podcast called The Edge: “I didn’t wanna stay home … when Philly fans talk to me like, ‘Man, you should come to Philly!’ I’m like, I do not want to … I went to Penn State, I wanted to get out of Penn!”
Parsons is from Harrisburg, where he was a high school superstar. Then he went to Penn State, once again earning national attention as a next-level prospect.
So … does he “hate” the Eagles now? Sure. That’s part of the fun of this.
But mostly, he didn’t want to stay “home.” And so what did he do about it?
He says he declined to meet with the Eagles before that draft. No thanks. Don’t call. Stiffed ’em.
It all worked out, for both rivals. Dallas landed a defensive centerpiece in Parsons and in that same draft, the Eagles landed an offensive centerpiece in DeVonta Smith.
And the myths and the legends and the stories now continue on …
