PETALING JAYA: Mohd Khairuddin Othman has been named as the new Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general.
The former two-term Paya Jaras assemblyman’s appointment, which takes immediate effect, was announced by Communications Ministry secretary-general Datuk Mohamad Fauzi Isa on Facebook on Friday (March 1).
Mohamad Fauzi said J-Kom will continue to strengthen the Madani government, through knowledge, digital skills and patrotism.
Mohd Khairuddin takes over from Datuk Dr Mohammad Agus Yusoff who stepped down from the post in November 2023 after a video which showed a man supposed to be him having an indecent conversation with another man was circulated.
He has since denied the allegations, claiming he was framed and later resigned, citing a new job offer.
Mohd Khairuddin had served as Selangor youth, sports and human capital development committee chairman between 2018 and 2023.
