Lionel Messi salió de la banca y firmó un doblete en el tramo final para que Argentina despachara el martes 3-0 a Jamaica, cerrando una alentadora fecha de fogueos de la Albiceleste rumbo a la Copa del Mundo.

Después de no ser incluido en el once titular, Messi ingresó en la segunda parte y metió dos goles. El primero del delantero del Paris Saint-Germain fue con un sablazo desde fuera del área a los 86. Tres minutos después, sentenció con un tiro libre.

Messi también anotó un par de tantos en la victoria 3-0 sobre Honduras en Miami el viernes pasado.

El capitán suma nueve goles en sus últimos ocho partidos con Argentina, consolidándose como máximo artillero de la selección con 90.

“No hay palabras para decir lo que es, jugando cinco, diez minutos o todo el partido hace cosas increíbles”, dijo Julián Álvarez, autor del primer gol argentino a los 13 minutos.

Argentina dominó a su antojo el ensayo en la Red Bull Arena, a las afueras de Nueva York, y estiró su invicto a 35 partidos — la racha vigente más larga de una selección.

A diferencia de otros equipos que en menos de dos meses intervendrán en el Mundial de Qatar, Argentina se batió en esta fecha FIFA con rivales que no se clasificaron.

Pero el rendimiento del equipo fue positivo en todas sus líneas y confirma el cartel de candidato a un tercer título mundial.

Los argentinos abrumaron a su oponente caribeño con una circulación vertiginosa del balón.

El primer gol de la noche de inicios de otoño plasmó el sentido coral del equipo dirigido por Lionel Scaloni.

De un desborde de Nicolás Tagliafico por la izquierda, Lautaro Martínez recortó dentro del área y cedió hacia Álvarez, quien definió de primera y de zurda.

Álvarez, con apenas un par de meses de recorrido en el fútbol europeo con el Manchester City, saltó como titular y cubrió el puesto de Messi, en la banca para el inicio. El crack argentino sustituyó a Martínez y entró en escena para jugar la última media hora.

La Albiceleste entra ahora a la recta final hacia su estreno mundialista contra Arabia Saudí, el 22 de noviembre. También enfrentará a México y Polonia en el Grupo C.

Seis días antes del debut, los argentinos disputarán un amistoso contra los Emiratos Árabes Unidos en Dubái.
