Meghan Markle's latest move 'speaks volumes' and shows the Duchess is 'done' with the UK

Meghan Markle has decided not to return to the UK with Prince Harry next week, with one source saying the move “speaks volumes”.

The Duke of Sussex is visiting London to take part in a special service to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. While Meghan won’t be going with Harry, she will join him on a trip to Nigeria later this month.

No official reason has been given for Meghan’s decision to skip the UK trip. One senior aide has suggested the Duchess of Sussex is now “done” with the UK and is unlikely to come back.

Speaking to The Express, they said: “Her conspicuous absence from all his recent trips has been noted. This time she will be missing a key event in Harry’s Invictus diary as well as the opportunity to offer support to her father-in-law.”

The aide added: “It strikes me as odd that she doesn’t have time to come to England where, however she feels about them, she does have family. But she does have time to join Harry in Africa. I think that speaks volumes.”

Harry will return to the UK on Tuesday and give a reading at a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral, London, on Wednesday. He is also expected to visit with his father King Charles.

Shortly after his trip, Harry will join Meghan in Nigeria to take part in talks about the Invictus Games. The couple will also participate in cultural activities and meet with service members and their families.

They’ve faced criticism for the security they’ll be getting on the trip. The Sussexes will reportedly receive security funded by the government of Nigeria after being invited by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa.

The security will come at a hefty price, despite Nigeria dealing with mass poverty, with an estimated 87million people living below the poverty line. Harry and Meghan will be given the security amid safety warnings set out by the US State Department which has given Nigeria a Level 3 advisory.

A Level 3 advisory is the second highest risk level and is given out over concerns about crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping and armed gangs. The US State Department has advised Americans to “reconsider travel” to Nigeria.
