Meghan Markle news latest – Piers Morgan SLAMS ‘two-faced’ Duchess as she releases statement following court win

Piers Morgan has SLAMMED Meghan Markle for being 'two-faced' after she won her court battle against a newspaper publisher today.

The TV show host branded the Duchess of Sussex “Princess Pinocchio b******t” following her latest privacy victory.

Meghan released a statement accusing the newspaper of treating the case as a “game with no rules”, adding: “This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right.”

But the former GMB host blasted Megan for this statement, saying that the case was “beyond parody.”

He wrote for MailOnline: “She can claim 'victory' all she likes after this court case, but all it really did was expose her real character to the world and the cold hard two-faced reality at the heart of Meghan and Harry's attitude to privacy.”

He added: “If I were her, I'd stick the celebratory champagne back in the fridge today. Thanks to this court case, we've now seen what the real Meghan looks like, fork tongue and all.”

Meghan Markle hits out after winning explosive legal battle

MEGHAN Markle lashed out today after winning her legal battle – despite “forgetting” to tell judges parts of her evidence.

The Duchess of Sussex, 40, sued the Mail on Sunday over the publication of the “personal and private” letter she sent to dad Thomas Markle in 2018.

The High Court issued a summary judgment in February – meaning she won without having to face a messy high-profile trial.

Publishers Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) launched an appeal against the ruling – arguing the judge was not aware of all the facts at the time.

But judges at the Court of Appeal today ruled in Meghan's favour and dismissed the appeal – meaning she will not come face-to-face with Mr Markle.

The Duchess released a scathing statement after the ruling as she accused the newspaper of treating the case as a “game with no rules”.

Meghan added: “This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right.”

    String of sensational claims

During the three-day appeal hearing, the court was presented with a string of sensational claims the newspaper alleged threatened her credibility.

Meghan even issued an apology to the court for misleading them after suffering an apparent memory lapse after it was revealed she heavily briefed her communications secretary over book Finding Freedom.

The Court of Appeal said the lapse was “unfortunate” but did not “bear on the issues raised in the grounds of appeal”.

Other allegations centred around the letter she wrote her dad in 2018 that breached her copyright and privacy.

Meghan maintained previously she sent her estranged father the “heartfelt” five-page letter after they reached “breaking point”.

But in a fresh statement, she said she only wrote the 1,250-word note on advice of senior royals “A” and “B” after “significant pressure” was put on her and Prince Harry.

Duchess of Cornwall attends war memorial re-dedication service

The Duchess of Cornwall has joined a short service of rededication to mark the 100th anniversary of a village war memorial.

The Seend War Memorial, in the village of Seend in Wiltshire, was unveiled in February 1921 to commemorate the 25 soldiers from the parish who died during the First World War.

The Cornish granite memorial also remembers the seven men who were killed in the Second World War, and Andrew Holloway, who died in Iraq in 2005.

Camilla, who is patron of the War Memorials Trust, laid flowers at the memorial and met family members of those named on it.

The Last Post was played and two-minute silence held.

Before leaving, the duchess accepted a posy of flowers from 10-year-olds Lily King and Florence Crossman, who attend Seend Primary School.

Later, she met the family who run the Spar shop in nearby Devizes, to thank them for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

Amol Rajan apologises for critical comments about Royals

The journalist who fronted a BBC documentary examining the relationship between the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Sussex and the media has apologised for critical comments he made about the royal family a decade ago.

Amol Rajan, 38, described the Duke of Edinburgh as a “racist buffoon” and the Prince of Wales as “scientifically illiterate” in a 2012 article about the Queen's Diamond Jubilee for the Independent newspaper, which he used to edit.

The piece described the event as “little more than the industrialisation of mediocrity” and was also critical of William and Harry.

In a statement posted on Twitter, Rajan, who is the BBC's media editor and a presenter of Radio 4's Today programme, apologised for his words.

He said: “In reference to very reasonable questions about some foolish commentary from a former life, I want to say I deeply regret it.

“I wrote things that were rude and immature and I look back on them now with real embarrassment, and ask myself what I was thinking, frankly.

“I would like to say sorry for any offence they caused then or now.

“I'm completely committed to impartiality and hope our recent programmes can be judged on their merits.”

Piers blasts Meghan Markle after court ruling

PIERS Morgan has slammed Meghan Markle after she today won her legal battle.

The TV show host branded the Duchess of Sussex “Princess Pinocchio b******t” following her latest privacy victory.

Meghan sued the Mail on Sunday over the publication of a “personal and private” letter she sent to dad Thomas Markle in 2018.

Publishers Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL) launched an appeal against a decision to grant a summary judgment – meaning Meghan didn't need to face a high-profile trial.

Judges at the Court of Appeal today ruled in Meghan's favour and dismissed the appeal – despite ANL's lawyers alleging fresh claims had threatened her credibility.

Lashing out at the royal today, Morgan tweeted: “A responsive statement from Piers, The Earl of Exposing Princess Pinocchio Bullsh*t, will be published shortly.”

BBC's Amol Rajan slammed for joking about 'throwing brick' at Wills & Kate

A BBC journalist was today slammed for joking about throwing a brick at Kate Middleton and Prince William in unearthed tweets.

Amol Rajan, who presented the controversial Beeb documentary The Princes And The Press, this morning apologised for making “rude” and “immature” comments about the Royal Family.

His apology referred to comments he had made while writing for The Independent back in 2012 – and was later extended to the tweets.

The Daily Mail unearthed a number of Twitter posts from the star between 2010 – 2013, including a joke that he was about to “throw a brick at Kate and Wills”.

Another tweet from the same year slammed the BBC's footage of the Trooping of the Colour, branding it “relentless, spirit-crushing monarchist propaganda”.

Camilla gives statement on new cinema

Camilla then took a seat in the auditorium before watching a short collection of trailers showcasing recent films.

After unveiling a plaque to formally open the cinema, she said: “Thank-you Robert for asking me to come and open this wonderful Parade Cinema. As probably all of you know, you cannot say no to Robert.

“I have worked for a very long time with the Bobby Van charity with him and he is absolutely brilliant in getting things done and I think this is one of his masterpieces.

“So, thank-you very much indeed for asking me to open it. It is going to be a huge asset for everybody in Marlborough, round Marlborough and the whole of Wiltshire.

“I very much look forward to coming to see a film here, having my glass of wine and popcorn and bringing all the grandchildren here.

“Hopefully I will see you again then.”

    Camilla opens boutique cinema

The Duchess of Cornwall has promised to return to a boutique cinema and bring her grandchildren with her to watch a film. Camilla officially opened the newly converted Parade Cinema in Marlborough town centre during a series of engagements in Wiltshire on Thursday.

A 19th century former non-conformist chapel has been restored and transformed into the cinema, which has 106 seats – 70 in the stalls and 36 in the balcony. The duchess was welcomed to the cinema by philanthropist Robert Hiscox, who is chairman of the company behind the £3 million project.

Mr Hiscox introduced her to staff and supporters associated with the conversion of the chapel to a cinema.

There are only two people the Queen answers the phone to every time

She’s one of the most famous women on the planet, but the Queen is said to only have two people that have instant access to her.

Her Majesty, 95, only answers her phone every time to these two chosen individuals – and they aren’t who you would expect.

Speaking on the Royally US podcast Christina Garibaldi, royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti revealed: “Apparently the Queen has two people who she speaks to the most on her phones and she also apparently has a mobile phone which is said to be Samsung packed with anti-hacker encryption by MI6 so nobody can hack into her phone.

“But the two people she phones the most is said to be her daughter Princess Anne and her racing manager John Warren.

“He is the son-in-law of the Queen’s friend, the late Earl of Carnarvon and his home was Highclere castle in Berkshire which viewers of TV may know better as Downtown Abbey.

“So this is apparently who can get through to the Queen from anywhere in the world if he calls she answers.”

Prince Charles ‘wants to spare William burden of duty’

Prince Charles will “follow the tradition of the monarchy” in order to spare William the “burden of duty” for as long as possible, claims a former royal butler.

Former royal butler Grant Harrold told GB news: “I have been asked this question many times by many friends, do I think it’s possible that Prince Charles decides to not take on the position of King and step aside to pass on Prince William.

“I actually believe we would not see that happen because Prince Charles is very traditional.”

Inside Meghan and Harry’s first Thanksgiving with Archie and Lilibet

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle have celebrated their first Thanksgiving as a family-of-four after welcoming daughter Lilibet in June.

For the second year in a row, the couple have marked the US holiday at their home in exclusive Montecito, California.

And the family will have spent the day together before enjoying a meal prepared by Meghan.

In her recent interview on The Ellen Show, the duchess revealed they’ll “relax” and make the most of time spent together.

“I love to cook, we’ll be at home and just relax and sort of settle in,” she said. “It’s our second Thanksgiving at home in California, so it will be nice.”

The couple moved into their home last summer during Covid lockdowns.

    Kate Middleton visits V&A exhibition

The Duchess of Cambridge spent the morning viewing the museum's Faberge exhibition in London as the Duchess of Sussex won her battle against the Mail On Sunday.

Meghan had sued the paper after it published a private letter she sent to her father Thomas Markle in 2018.

And in a scathing statement after the ruling, she accused the publication of treating the case as a “game with no rules”.

The duchess added: “This is a victory not just for me, but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what's right.”

    Mr Knauf witness statement

In his witness statement, Mr Knauf claimed Meghan had emailed with an electronic draft of the letter asking if anything stood out as a “liability”.

The papers read: “She also asked a specific question regarding addressing Mr Markle as ‘Daddy’ in the letter, saying ‘given I’ve only ever called him daddy it may make sense to open as such (despite him being less than paternal), and in the unfortunate event that it leaked it would pull at the heartstrings.”

It came at a time when Mr Markle missed his daughter's wedding after suffering a heart attack and repeatedly spoke to the media.

Mr Knauf suggested she reference her dad's health problems in the letter as it is his “best opening for criticism and sympathy”.

Virginia Roberts claims Prince Andrew’s car crash BBC interview was evidence of his ‘guilt’

PRINCE Andrew's disastrous Newsnight interview is evidence of his “guilt”, lawyers for his sex assault accuser claimed last night.

He was also accused of “victim shaming” after his legal team launched a blistering personal attack on Virginia Roberts Giuffre.

The Duke of York sparked fury with a legal filing in October that branded Virginia a “money-hungry sex kitten” who was only suing him for “another pay day”.

David Boies, Virginia's lawyer, hit back yesterday in a court filing in New York opposing Andrew's motion to dismiss.

He blasted the royal for using his defence of her lawsuit as a “press release” to trash her “credibility, character and motives”.

He said it “lacks foundation in fact and continues (Andrew’s) efforts to avoid confronting his own misconduct by attempting to blame and shame his victim”.

BBC star Amol Rajan forced into humiliating apology

A BBC journalist was today forced to apologise for making “rude” and “immature” comments about Prince Philip, Kate Middleton and Prince William.

Amol Rajan, who presented the controversial beeb documentary The Princes And The Press, wrote a number of remarks about the royals in The Independent back in 2012.

Mr Rajan, who used to edit the paper, reportedly called Prince Philip a “racist buffoon” in one column while describing Wills' and Kate's public role “a total fraud” in an open letter to the couple.

Apologising today, the 38-year-old journalist insisted the comments were “foolish” and “immature”.

And he said he “deeply regrets” his incendiary words.

“In reference to very reasonable questions about some foolish commentary from a former life, I want to say I deeply regret it,” Rajan wrote on Twitter.

“I wrote things that were rude and immature and I look back on them now with real embarrassment, and ask myself what I was thinking, frankly I would like to say sorry for any offence they caused then or now.”

Could the Spotify deal hang in the balance?

Pressure has been mounting on the sussexes to follow up the only episode of their multi-year contract to protect their £18million deal.

The only episode they have put together lasts for just 35-minutes and was a holiday special last December.

Spotify last year excitedly announced it was expecting a full-scale launch of content from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex throughout 2021.

But with only one show under their belts, the streaming platform has so far paid the couple £500,000 for each minute.

Meanwhile, Harry has appeared on numerous other podcasts, including Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert in May, where he said his life was like Jim Carrey film The Truman Show.

    Royal dress code

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge must adhere to a dress code when they’re out and about at informal events, too.

For women, a smart day dress or trousers teamed with a blazer is deemed acceptable, while men opt for a collared shirt with chinos.

Wills is often seen in the smart day trousers, but has on occasion broken the rules and worn jeans.

Etiquette expert Grant Harrold, known as The Royal Butler, told the BBC: “”Many places will not allow jeans as they are still seen as very casual wear, so it is better to play safe for both sexes.

“But if the duchess is outside walking the dogs for example, then jeans are fine.”

    Kate's glamorous headpieces

Prior to her wedding, the Duchess of Cambridge wasn’t seen in public wearing a tiara.

This is because glamorous headpieces are typically reserved for married women.

Tiaras are traditionally worn at formal events, and are used as a “sign of status”.

Harrold told the BBC: “The old rule is that hats are never worn indoors after 6pm, because that is when the ladies changed into evening dress, and tiaras and the family jewels would come out.”

He added: “For married ladies, it was a sign of status and would show you were taken and not looking for a husband.

“For the gentleman, it was a clear sign not to make advances toward the lady in question.”

Prince Harry didn’t really engage with the media

In the controversial BBC documentary, it recounted the time period from Harry and Meghan’s wedding to them stepping down as senior royals.

Fellow royal reporter Robert Jobson said Harry looked “furious with the media” while giving a speech in Johannesburg.

“We don’t see each other as much as we used to because we are so busy but I love him dearly.

    Meghan's win

Today's judgment read: “The Court of Appeal upheld the judge's decision that the duchess had a reasonable expectation of privacy in the contents of the letter.

“Those contents were personal, private and not matters of legitimate public interest.

“The articles in the Mail on Sunday interfered with the duchess' reasonable expectation of privacy and were not a justified or proportionate means of correcting inaccuracies about the letter.”
