Fans go wild over return of Cadbury Easter egg - and coeliacs rejoice as it's gluten-free

Cadbury fans are raving about the return of a much-loved Easter eggShoppers are rushing out to nab the gluten free treat, months before the holiday READ MORE: Cadbury announce update to popular chocolate in time for Easter

Cadbury fans are going wild over the return of a popular Easter egg that features a twist on a much-loved chocolate product.

Mini Eggs have become a staple treat for Britons, both at Easter and all year round, with the Mini Eggs bar being a firm favourite twist on the product.

However, if the bar isn’t enough, shoppers can now get their hands on a whole 380g egg with Mini Eggs embedded into its chocolate shell.

What’s more is the Easter delight is also gluten-free – meaning people with coeliac disease can eat it without worrying about any unpleasant or painful consequences.

The treat was first released in 2021, sending fans into a frenzy – and now it’s been rediscovered online after a TikToker spotted it on supermarket shelves and took to the app to rave about it.

British shopper Hannah Louise, who posts under the handle @hannahlouise366 on TikTok, posted a series of photos of the product, captioned: ‘What a time to be alive. It has Mini Eggs in the chocolate!’

The post has already been seen by more than 633,000 people, amassing over 700 comments.

Images shared by Hannah show the Ultimate Mini Eggs Inclusion Easter Egg, which includes a 380g egg and an 80g bag of mini eggs.

The egg, which has an extra thick shell, costs £12 and you can get your hands on it at most major supermarkets, although the TikToker admitted she picked up hers from Asda.

She wrote on the screen: ‘She’s gluten free!,’ with a party emoji, as she showed viewers the back of the packaging to prove it.

Surprisingly, not all chocolate is gluten-free. While plain milk, dark and white chocolate products will be safe for coeliacs to eat, many of the popular products on supermarket shelves now have gluten-containing ingredients added to them.

Viewers flocked to the comments to tag their friends and rave about the delicious Easter treat.

Despite Easter falling on March 31 this year, fans are already heading out to buy the popular eggs before they sell out.

One user penned: ‘Omg as if this is gluten free, defo getting myself one!’

What's more is the Easter delight is also gluten free, prompting those who have dietary restrictions to rush out and nab one

A second wrote: ‘Excuse me?! I don’t even care that Easter is months away. I’m heading out to buy one stat’.

Meanwhile a third questioned: ‘Where did you get this and how much?’ and a fourth simply tagged their friend, writing ‘gluten free ahhh’.

Another quipped: ‘Since when did they do this? Well it doesn’t matter I want one’.

Others chimed in with, ‘we need,’ ‘no way’ and ‘Have I died and gone to heaven?’

One fan exclaimed: ‘Stooop I’m so obsessed with the mini egg bar,’ with another adding: ‘Omg my life is complete’.

One viewer insisted: ‘It’s not a want it’s a need’ and another advised: ‘I got this last year and it’s coeliac friendly’.

However, it comes just after Cadbury customers have discovered a noticeable difference in price when it comes to the brands mini eggs.

Replying to a fuming customer on X, formerly Twitter , the brand admitted it is ‘having to make some carefully considered price increases’ across the range, telling shoppers the decision was ‘a last resort.’

The Mini Eggs Chocolate Bag (80g) has increased by 25 per cent in major retailers, such as Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Morrisons, from £1 to £1.25.

Meanwhile, the Mini Eggs Bar (110g) has also surged in Morrisons and Tesco by 25 per cent from £1 to £1.25.

In Sainsbury’s and Tesco, the Mini Eggs Carton (38.3g) has surged by 20 per cent, from 50p to 60p, according to recent figures – the price hike of the popular Easter products has left scores of shoppers fuming.
