London Mayor Khan Condemns Lee Anderson's Remarks As Fueling Anti-Muslim Hatred

Former Conservative deputy chairman Lee Anderson has been suspended by the Tory party over comments he made about the Muslim Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, whom Anderson claims was controlled by Islamists. Anderson made these remarks during an appearance on GB News on Friday.

“I don’t actually believe that the Islamists have got control of our country, but what I do believe is they’ve got control of Khan and they’ve got control of London… He’s actually given our capital city away to his mates,” said Andersonon GB News.

The Tory party expressed outrage over Anderson’s comments, but despite his refusal to apologize, Anderson accepts his suspension.

“Following a call with the Chief Whip, I understand the difficult position that I put both he and the Prime Minister in with regards to my comments. I fully accept that they had no option but to suspend the whip in these circumstances,” said Anderson. “However, I will continue to continue to support the Government’s efforts to call out extremism in all its forms, be that anti-Semitism or Islamophobia.”

On Saturday, Khan responded to these comments and criticized the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s lack of response.

“These comments pour fuel on the fire of anti-Muslim hatred,” Mr Khan said.

Nigel Farage, suggested that Anderson should join the Reform Party after being suspended by the Conservatives. Farage believes the rival party could be Anderson’s new home.

Anderson has a history of making controversial comments, including making complaints about struggling British citizens who rely on foodbanks, which has earned him the nickname “30p Lee” for his claims about the cost of a meal.
