Senior Fellow at Menzies Research Centre Nick Cater has knocked Liberal MP Matt Kean’s claim the Waratah Super Battery, and other firming projects, could keep electricity running without the use of Eraring power station.

Mr Kean has questioned the need to keep the ageing power plant operating for a further four years.
“Matt Kean is off with the fairies Peta,” Mr Cater told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
“You just cannot do it with batteries.
“Right now, it’s a very cool evening in Sydney, and Eraring is pumping out about two gigawatts of very useful electricity, without that we’d have blackouts.”
