The 18th-ranked Marquette Golden Eagles look to continue their torrid pace when they face the 24th-ranked Connecticut Huskies in Big East Conference action on Tuesday night. The Golden Eagles (16-7, 8-4), who cruised to an 83-73 win over Villanova last Wednesday, have won eight of nine with the only loss in that span coming at first-place Providence 65-63 on Jan. 30. The Huskies (15-6, 6-4), who lost at Villanova 85-74 on Saturday, have lost two in a row following a five-game winning streak. UConn defeated Marquette 78-70 in Milwaukee in the first meeting of the season on Dec. 21. The all-time series is tied 6-6, with Marquette holding a 4-2 edge in games played at Connecticut.

Tipoff from XL Center in Hartford, Conn., is set for 6:30 p.m. ET.  The Huskies are seven-point favorites in the latest Marquette vs. UConn odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is set at 141.5. Why UConn can cover

The Huskies feature a balanced scoring attack with six players averaging 7.1 points or better. Senior guard R.J. Cole has been scorching hot of late, and is coming off a 25-point, four-assist effort in the loss at Villanova on Saturday. It was the fourth consecutive game he has reached double-figure scoring and the second time in two games he scored 25. In the first meeting against Marquette, Cole poured in 20 points, while dishing out seven assists. For the season, Cole is averaging 16.4 points, 4.5 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. He is also connecting on 88.8 percent of his free throws.

Also helping lead the Huskies on offense is sophomore Adama Sanogo. Sanogo has reached double-figure scoring in seven of his last eight games, including a 14-point performance at Villanova. He has posted four double-doubles on the season, and scored a season-high 30 points in a 115-109 double-overtime win over Auburn on Nov. 24. He averages 14.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game, and is shooting 53.2 percent from the floor.

Why Marquette can cover

After starting the season 8-6, the Golden Eagles have been on a tear and are within striking distance of the top spot in the Big East. Redshirt freshman Justin Lewis is a big part of the reason for that. He leads the Golden Eagles in scoring (16.6 points) and rebounding (7.9), while also averaging 1.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. He has reached double-figure scoring in each of the last nine games, including a 33-point performance in a 73-63 win at Seton Hall on Jan. 26. He has five double-doubles, and poured in 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the first game against UConn.

Also powering Marquette is graduate transfer guard Darryl Morsell. He is averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He is connecting on 45.1 percent of his field goals, including 37.8 percent from 3-point range, and 83.1 percent of his free throws. He is coming off a 15-point effort against Villanova. His best offensive output were a pair of 26-point performances – once against Seton Hall on Jan. 15 and the other against New Hampshire on Nov. 12.
