Planes are reportedly not designed to carry as much luggage as they are now
Airlines are getting strict about the bags you take on the plane some even looking to get rid of the overhead lockers altogether. The Atlantic says planes can’t really carry all the big bags we bring on board.
David Young, who designs parts of plane cabins, told them that we can’t keep going like this. He warned travellers: “I’d say we’re at a breaking point. We’ve hit as big as we can go.”
He also said: “Maybe we don’t need carry-ons at all. Someone needs to step out and say, ‘We’re not doing this anymore. This isn’t the right experience for air travel.'” Last year, a person from Frontier, an American airline, told The Independent they give extra money to staff when they charge for bags.

They explained the charge is “simply an incentive for our airport customer service agents to help ensure compliance with our policies and that all customers are treated equally.” Ryanair lets you have one small bag that’s no more than 40cm x 20cm x 25cm, Birmingham Live reports.
EasyJet allows one small bag too, but it can be up to 45cm x 36cm x 20cm. Jet2 says you can bring one thing that fits under the seat and one cabin bag that’s no bigger than 56cm x 45cm x 25cm and weighs up to 10kg.
With TUI, passengers can have one personal item that fits under the seat in front and one cabin bag no larger than 55cm x 40cm x 20cm weighing up to 10kg. British Airways allows passengers one personal bag no larger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm and one cabin bag no larger than 56cm x 45cm 25cm weighing up to 23kg, it says.
